You know when sometimes when you find something that is so good, that you wished you had invented it yourself. Well, I feel like that about Water Wows made by Melissa & Doug and available from Charlie’s Toy Shop. Water Wows are reusable water colouring pads with simple black line drawings that once your child goes over the brush pen that comes with it, instantly fill with colour until they start to dry out.
The water brush pen is chunky and easy for little ones to hold. They are also easy to fill and do not leak. The pads are chunky too and the boards are strong. The four pictures are spiral bound together and the whole package is very compact making them ideal for travel. Lots of themes of Water Wows are available including princesses, transport, farm and safari. We have taken our Water Wows everywhere including on holiday, to the pub and even just left them in their bedrooms as a quick activity to do in the morning so we can have 5 extra minutes sleep on a weekend morning.
The Water Wows are good at promoting fine motor skills, colour recognition and improving pen grip. We loved our Water Wows so much that I went and bought some others made by a different company but these were awful. The colours were pale, the water pens did not work very well and they were generally just poor quality. I have only ever purchased Melissa & Doug ones from Charlie’s Toy Shop ever since.
Why I am an ambassador for Charlie’s Toy Shop!
When Thomas was a few months old, I volunteered to host a social event for my local NCT branch in my home and it was to be a pizza and a toy shop party. The toy shop bit of the party was sorted by Charlie’s Toy Shop and it is run by a lovely fellow local mum called Jenni. Jenni came to my house earlier than everyone else to set up and we ended up having a good chat and getting on like we had known each other for ages, despite not meeting until that evening. When the party started, Jenni told a story about her having a condition called Factor V Leiden which is a genetic condition that means you are more susceptible to blood clots. Jenni suffered a clot a couple of years after her son Charlie had been born and decided that she wanted a change of career to spend more time with her son and enjoy life in general. With her nursery nurse qualification and sales training, opening a toy shop seemed the natural thing to do.
Ever since that evening, which was nearly 6 years ago, I have regularly purchased toys and games from Jenni as they are always excellent quality, they are always educational, and the delivery always comes with a smile! Therefore, I jumped up and down with excitement when last year, Jenni asked me to be an ambassador for Charlie’s Toy Shop and help spread the word about the fantastic and personal service she provides.
Jenni has kindly given me the opportunity to giveaway two Melissa and Doug Water Wow’s to two lucky readers of Mummy Needs Wine. Please enter using the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!
