Thomas and Daniel are massive fans of Thomas and Friends (as you may have seen from my previous posts of our day out in London and our recent Cranky At The Docks playset review) so when I was browsing Facebook one day and saw a competition for a day at Thomas Land at Drayton Manor Park as VIPs, I knew I had to enter it. A few days passed and I completely forgot about the whole thing so I was very surprised when a notification came up on my phone saying that Drayton Manor Park had tagged me in a comment. I had won! I was so surprised. I never win anything. I told Stuart and we secretly planned our day out to Thomas Land. Thomas Land is Daniel’s favourite place in the world ever and whenever we are going anywhere, he always asks if we are going to Thomas Land. Thomas loves going on the fast rides so he is a big fan too. Eventually the day arrived and we were able to tell the boys where we were going. They were so excited!
Being VIPs at Thomas Land meant that we got our own private room for the day at the top of Sodor Airport with a great view of Thomas Land too. We also got a private meet and greet with Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller in the room and a buffet lunch as well. The rooms are decorated in a Thomas theme and even have trains on the wall that children can play with, like Daniel is doing above.
Thomas and Daniel were thrilled to meet Sir Topham Hatt and were very excited when he arrived. Daniel told him all about his favourite engines, Stephen and Hiro while Sir Hatt was very pleased with Thomas’ name! After our meet and greet, we had lunch in our room and then it was time to hit the rides!
We had lots of fun going on all the rides in Thomas Land. Our favourites include the new James and the Red Balloon ride, Troublesome Trucks roller coaster, Winston’s Whistle Stop Tours and Toby’s Tram Express. We did not stop all day and even managed a trip up to the zoo on the Engine tour as well. The beauty of having the VIP room meant that we could leave our stuff knowing it was safe and if one of the boys needed the loo, we could take them straight to airport and take them without a queue.
We had the best day ever at Thomas Land and cannot wait to go back there again. I am not sure we will be VIPs though as it is £150 and normal ticket price per person to hire one of the rooms for the day. I think it is worth it for a special occasion/child’s party but it is not something we could do ever visit.
Thank you to Sir Topham Hatt and all the Thomas Land Staff for a wonderful day
